Ben Hogan 1957 Sports Illustrated CGC 7.5 Newsstand Edition
Ben Hogan teases the first of five lessons of 'The Modern Fundamentals of Golf' with this Anthony Ravielli's sketch of The Hawk, familiar to you as it also appears on the best selling book cover. The leader in magazine and comic book grading, CGC, gave this issue a very strong 7.5 - impressive for an early newsstand issue only 3 years after the publication's inception.
The quickly growing graded sports magazine category received a large boost to its proverbial stock price when it was announced that CCG (CGC) and James Spence Authentication were joining forces to now grade, authenticate and encapsulate signed magazines. Less than 3 percent of Sports Illustrated magazines were newsstand publications, sans the subscription label or residue from it - aesthetical appeal and scarcity in one piece.
