Special Limited Edition of Tom Morris of St. Andrews The Colossus of Golf 1821-1908
This 384 page masterpiece by David Malcom and Peter Crabtree is a
most comprehensive biography of Old Tom Morris.
It has won two prestigious awards. In February 2009 the USGA selected
it as the winner of the Herbert Warren Wind book Award. Rand Jerris,
then director of the USGA Museum and Arnold Palmer Center for Golf
History, stated “ ‘Every 10 or 15 years, a book comes along that is truly
a seminal contribution to the history of the game … . “This is one of
those books.”
The USGA press release further stated the book’s greatest contribution
to golf literature is as an unparalleled source of original photos, artwork
and primary documents …” and said that “the original research … and
the graphic presentation of the book set new standards for golf
biography and historical scholarship.”
In July 2009, the British Golf Collectors Society awarded the book their
most prestigious book award, the Murdoch Medal for the year’s most
outstanding contribution to golfing history.
This edition is the Keeper of the Green “395” edition. It is #110/ of a
limited edition 0f 395 copies and is signed by both authors. . it is
specially bound in beautiful half Harmaton leather with gift top edge
and is preserved in its’ well-crafted slipcase.
An essential book for any Tom Morris collection and the golf library,
especially in this finely bound and crafted edition.
