1962 US Open at Oakmont Member Badge #1253 PSA Grade 6 #87044020

Here is the PSA graded 6 1962 US Open at Oakmont green, white and red circular metal MEMBER badge used to take in Jack Nicklaus' very first PGA Tour victory and major for one of the Oakmont CC faithful! The newly turned pro Jack Nicklaus and hometown favorite Arnold Palmer batted it out in a playoff, with Jack emerging in the seemingly David over Goliath result at that time. The appropriate and historic setting of Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania was the main stage for two leading actors who at the time were opposite in nearly every way. The tournament launched a lifelong friendly rivalry between Nicklaus and Palmer. The Oakmont squirrel in red can be found on the top of the badge. For reference purposes we offered a ticket from this tournament's playoff round in out 2022 September Auction that received 29 bids and an achieved price of $6,039! PSA only recently started graded badges, sporting a thicker unique casing - an excellent revelation for the ticket/badge collecting community. The ticket/badge category had long been underappreciated in the sports memorabilia industry, until a warranted surge in prices only a couple years back has brought this category's market close to where it should be. This is different than the tickets that we have had, an appealing badge that was issued to select individuals at a fraction of that admission number.
