Evangelist Billy Graham's Personal Macgregor Copperface Irons, Woods & Bd2 Putter In Bag

From The Babe & George Zaharias Foundation comes Billy Graham's Personal Macgregor Copperface Irons, Woods & Bd2 Putter In Bag offered in this lot. In 1937 Billy Graham Jr. Enrolled at the Florida Bible Institute (now the Trinity Christian College) in Temple Terrace Florida, where he received his “calling” (conversion) on the 18th green at Temple Terrace Country Club at the age of sixteen. The historic clubhouse for the course was purchased by the college years ago due to unpaid back taxes. It later became part of the school and remains one of the most visited sites on campus. Billy Graham was blessed to have this historic course at his doorstep that was designed by Tom Bendelow which opened in 1922 and hosted the first Florida Open in 1925 and the US Pro Hickory Championship in 2011.

Reverend Graham had played many golf courses in his life as well as playing with many of the twelve US Presidents he had met and dined with. He played in multiple celebrity tournaments in the state of Florida including some in the Tampa Bay area. There was an award dinner after the tournament, and many of the participants donated personal items from their world of sports, entertainment, politics and more. Numerous pieces of memorabilia signed golf gloves and balls, hockey pucks, baseballs and sets of clubs. We here at our foundation were privileged to receive several sets of these highly prized donations such as Reverend Graham’s set of personally owned and used clubs consisting of, Macgregor WXDI Driver, 3-5 persimmon woods, PT1 copper face 2-9 stiff flex irons, PT1 11 iron, 99 sand iron and a MacGregor golf bag with matching headcovers. 36 1/2" - 42 1/2." A signed letter of provenance from The Babe Zaharias Foundation comes with this lot.
