Glenna Collett Vare's Favorite Club - Ltd Ed Baffy Presented at the 1982 Memorial Tournament w/ Book
In the seventh playing of Jack's Memorial Tournament, the honoree in memoriam was fittingly the great Glenna Collett Vare. Here is Glenna Collett Vare's Baffy limited edition club that was commissioned by Jack Nicklaus to gift to the players at the tournament honoring Collet Vare. Attention to detail by Nicklaus is evident during production of these clubs to ensure the accuracy to the original. A nameplate includes the "Glenna Collett Vare's Baffy - An exact replica of Glenna Collett Vare's favorite club, used by her in winning six United States Women's Amateur Championships. Presented at the 1982 Memorial Tournament." It surely is a great addition to any collection, as it presents perfectly. Frame measures 11 1/4" x 44." It remains in very good condition, along with the limited edition book #5 also included, as shown in the accompanying lot photos.
Glenna Collett Vare was considered the best lady golfer of her day, the roarin' 1920's. She was a career amateur golfer, like Jones, and won six US Amateur Championships. It is unsurprising that Jack Nicklaus and Muifield Village would celebrate the accomplished golfer in 1982.
