1911 Massachusetts Golf Association Windeler Trophy Tiffany Medal - Brae Burn C.C.
The Windeler Shield/ trophy was a team competition held in conjunction with the Massachusetts Amateur Championship and was first played for in 1906. The medal is awarded to the team of golfers which has the lowest five aggregate scores. This medal was won by a team from the Brae Burn Country Club. (With and aggregate score of 394)
The Windeler trophy is named after G. Herbert Windeler. The first president of the Massachusetts Golf Association who also was the President of the United States Golf Association for 1903-4.
The front of this 1 ½ “medal features “The Massachusetts Golf Association” surrounding a shield with a native American holding a bow and arrow. The rear of the medal has a wreath encircling “The Windeler Trophy 1911 Won by Brae Burn Golf Club “followed by the names of the 5 persons on the team from Brae Burn.
Medal has great fine detail and was crafted by Tiffany & Co with their name on the medal below the wreath. . The rim of the medal is stamped “Bronze”.
