Golf At Musselburgh '1859' Artistic Image - Framed
Here is a splendid art image of the famed Musselburgh Old Course situated on Musselburgh Links, the oldest course in the world with continuous play. Musselburgh played host to six Open Championships (1874 - 1889) and was home to five Open Champions. This artwork came from a circa 1900 book containing this color image of the Charles Lees' painting featuring an 1859 golf scene comprised of caddies playing golf on a Musselburgh green. Artist Charles Lees (1800-1880) was born in Fife and known for painting portraits until his found appreciation for landscapes and golf. This angle depicted is said to be the view from the north-west of the course and likely the 8th or 9th hole. Very attractive, professionally framed and matted. 18" x 13"
