Circa 1900 J.W. ‘Willie’ Wallis Long Nose Putter - Modern Refinishing
Professionally made in the early 1900’s is this example bearing the golden 'Willie Wallis’ crown stamp. J.W. ‘Willie’ Wallis was a long-serving Sheffield professional and club maker from his time at Brough in the early years of the 20th century and played in the 1904 Open Championship. This vintage and elegant putter was refinished at the direction of our consignor because of the potential greatness in this club. The name ‘Willie Wallis’ has been filled with gold paint, new whipping at the neck, staining and polishing to the head have been added, and the sole plate has been filed to smooth the edging. We repeat, this is an original Wallis that was completely refinished within the last 20 years. Refinished - 34"
