Both well-traveled and dressed, Walter Hagen is on-brand in this 1930 press photo taken just prior to his trip to defend his Open title (Bobby Jones didn't let that happen). Caught with a smile across his face and hand up as if he was hailing a taxi (obviously not, while on a boat) crystal clear side portrait. At retirement date, Walter Hagen's 11 major championships reigned supreme, only overtaken by two golfers in Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in nearly 100 years of golf later.
