Jack Nicklaus Signed Pro Debut at 1962 LA Open Photo PSA/DNA #85008268
Quickly climbing the ranks in most significant Jack Nicklaus photos is his 'Pro Debut' timestamped by his headwear. This is the first example that we have seen with his timeless sharpie stamp of approval. In the format of perhaps a Hollywood headshot, not far away, this close shot of Jack Nicklaus captures the rookie donning a rope hat with the '1962 Los Angeles Open' during his professional debut. He was 21-years old, only months off of his second US Amateur Championship and prior to winning the US Open for his first victory. The black and white photo was taken at the Rancho Park Golf Course in West Los Angeles, California and would later be used for publicity and announcing Nicklaus' participation in tournaments later that season. Nicklaus' name is penned on the backside of this photo with welcomed signs of its age. This PSA Type II photo dating to c.1970's measures 5" x 7." It is encapsulated with the type designation for preservation, presentation and ultimately valuation of the Nicklaus photo the sports world has taken a strong liking to.
