c.1900 Staffordshire Porcelain Jug
The antique relief design of this turn-of-the century Staffordshire English pottery jug includes both a time-period golfer lining up a putt while donning proper attire on one side, with a sportsman mid-stride on the other. High eye appeal and boasting a deep blue hue covering its surface, this ceramic category entrant will attract attention. Staffordshire is composed of six towns Burslem, Fenton, Hanley, Longton, Stoke and Tunstall,[1] which is now the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. The area quickly became a pottery leader with the craft's necessary resources readily available. The verso includes hand-marking as depicted in lot photos.
