100th US Open Depicting Nicklaus, Watson, and Kite at Pebble Beach by Nick Leaskou
The United States Golf Association commissioned Nick Leaskov to paint a work for the 100th U.S. Open which was contested at Pebble Beach. The scenic ocean side course had already hosted three Opens. Artist Leaskov in his painting chose to honor the past three Hall of Fame Champions from those Opens depicting Jack Nicklaus (1972), Tom Watson (1982) and Tom Kite (1992). Offered here is a framed 24" x 30 1/2" print of that work which has been autographed in the lower right hand corner by the artist. Sadly Leaskov took ill after the Open, and passed away in 2003. But his memorable golf art lives on today in works as stunning as the one offered in this lot. A most likely future fourth Hall of Famer was added to list of Open champs at Pebble when Tiger Woods won the 2000 U.S. Open.
