Larry Crosby's Album Signed By Hagen, Hogan, Palmer & others

In staunch support and appreciation for 21 years of hosting the (Bing Crosby) National Invitational Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, the namesake Bing Crosby's brother, publicity director and President of the tournament, Larry Crosby received this thoroughly impressive leather-bound slipcased, gold gilded album. Seventeen signed letters and over 200 ballpoint pen signatures from the far reaching list of individuals that were impacted by the 'Clambake' tournament's first two decades through 1957-1958 (now in its 7th decades of play and under AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am) golfers, celebrities and athletes across the world of sport. One of the largest "books" we have ever handled starts off with the Cypress tree coastline watercolor pen and ink original artwork and ends with it - from an artist that illustrated for the tournament in the late 1950's and added more of his original whimsical work in the tournament record pages. Continuing the fun are full length black and white photos of Larry, along with his Hollywood brother mingling with contestants and friends on the course - seeing the tournament's conducting was carried out properly of course. To reiterate, this one-of-a-kind deluxe album composed of letters, signatures, photos and artwork was unique to Larry Crosby's album here, an expansive look back at the first 20 years of Bing Crosby National Pro-Am Tournament history to celebrate the 21st year and 17th tournament in 1958.

Signed letters with unimprovable Pebble Beach Pro Am content addressed to Larry Crosby are from the likes of Walter Hagen, who humorously stated that "one of his greatest mistakes (he) ever made was the rather standard one of being born too soon." He wrote that, as he explained not playing the "ever-growing successful Pro-Amateur Championship" in his prime. Additional praise came from Ben Hogan, "Those who are acquainted with the many painstaking details necessary to insure a successful tournament have great respect fir you and your ability..." Chick Evans handwrote the letter including "Your great achievement makes me think of a sing I used to hear when I was a little boy...'To worth I would give honor." Additional signed letters to Larry Crosby are written from USGA President Richard S. Tufts, Gene Sarazen, and LPGA Founder Marilynn Smith. The over 200 signatures in conclusion of the book include late golf greats such as Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson, the late Tony Lema and Cary Middlecoff.
