Large Royal Doulton Lambeth Colonel Bogey Whisky Advertising Water Jug - Rare
This stoneware pitcher by Doulton Lambeth is very rare. In fact, this is the first time we have ever offered it and also likely you will not see this at any auction again in the foreseeable future. It is pictured as item 49 in the trusted Decorative Golf Collectibles publication by authors Shirley & Jerry Sprung and dated as 1904. Estimated value at time of Sprung publication was $2000-3000. The jar is elaborately decorated and features embossed lettering “Col. Bogey Whiskey “ to
both sides . The neck is embossed with a
Scottish thistle design.
There is a golf scene to both sides depicting a
golfer sitting next to a sign that reads “ A Most
stimielating Tonic For Golfers.”
Below there are golfers and caddies dressed in
period clothing. One of the golfers is putting
and facing a stymie.
Also, on the side opposite the handle we have a
Trade mark labeled “Rogano” depicting two
lions facing each other and raising glasses.
The bottom is stamped “ Doulton Lambeth
England and bears a RN number of 9073
The jug measures approximately 8 x 8 “ and
has a large double pourer spout. No apparent
chips, cracks or any significant defects.
