Jimmy Demaret's Ben Hogan Signature Sure-Out Wedge
This lot contains golf's ultimate entertainer Jimmy Demaret's personal 'Ben Hogan' Sure-Out wedge with face and leading edge wear consistent of countless ball strikes and improper storage. This wedge was given to and used by Jimmy Demaret by the fellow Texan and partner manufacturer Ben Hogan company. Despite seemingly opposite personalities, Hogan and Demaret were close with their home state and the game of golf bringing them together naturally.
The 3-Time Masters Champion was a breed of his own, the son of a paint salesman and friend to many of the A-List pop culture stars. His father's profession was important, as it instilled his enthusiasm in colorful outfits on the links - often described as flamboyant. Jimmy wore his personality on his shirt, quite literally. The opportunity to offer items from Demaret's personal collection came through his godson Ronnie Renfrow, in hopes that these select items are appreciated as much as he did. Ronnie Renfrow has signed a letter of provenance that will accompanying this lot. 35"
