Jack Nicklaus Signed Titleist 1 Masters Logo Golf Ball
Arguably one of the best golfers of all time, Jack Nicklaus was a force to be reckoned with on the golf course, as evidenced by his 18 Major wins. The Golden Bear tackled Augusta National every chance he got, winning an incredible 6 times at the Masters in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975, and 1986. Here we have a Masters logo golf ball signed by Nicklaus in black marker in 'Position A,' just above the Masters logo. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
THE BEASER COLLECTION
Keen insight into all aspects of sporting events in particular Masters week and a determination to build the finest in person autograph collection on the planet led to the success which Jim Beaser and his son Jon achieved in nearly 40 years of obtaining signatures from athletes of various sports with a concentration on golf. Their well thought out pursuit of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods led Jim and Jon to airports, media centers and the annual golf writers dinner, held yearly in Augusta, long before any other "autograph chasers" figured out that this was the optimum way to get in front of the legends of the game for a treasured signature, or in the case of the Beasers a six pack of autographs. In these situations it would still be easy for many athletes to turn down an autograph request especially as the player saw the same face year after year. In the case of Jim Beaser, he was seldom if ever turned down. He had a great sense of humor joking with the players and flashing his beautiful smile. He was having fun and making it fun for the athlete. This was his hobby, not a business, he and his son would travel yearly from their Syracuse area home to attend the Masters with a primary reason to obtain autographs. Jim would then return to his 9 to 5 banking job in upstate New York filled with stories of autographs received and a smile on his and son's Jon's face. We, at The Golf Auction, had our faces saddened in August this year with the passing of Jim Beaser at 69 years of age after a valiant battle of 4 1/2 years with cancer. He made our yearly visits to the Masters and the World Golf Hall of Fame fun with the pure unbridled joy he was experiencing as a true sports fan being in the presence of his heroes. It is with a sense of great honor that we accept the privilege of auctioning the collection of Jim Beaser for his wife Jaki and son Jon to our collecting community. It represents the best-of-the-best for in-person rock solid authentic autographs. Jim's wish would be that you enjoy the items half as much as he did in acquiring them.
