Placement and quality of champion Jack Nicklaus' timeless penmanship are also trophy-worthy. As a nod to scarcity, this is only the third example that we have had the pleasure of offering over 15 years. The skyrocketing ticket category has been propelled by first's, including first starts, wins and records. Because of this it was unsurprising that an example we had in our 2022 April Auction achieved a realized price of $4,321 - unsigned! Jack Nicklaus' first of a record six Masters Tournament wins came in 1963 and made this badge famous and highly desired.
Jack Nicklaus claimed victory by a single stroke over Tony Lema at the 1963 Masters Tournament. This also marked Gene Sarazen's last time to make the cut at Augusta, not to mention Horton Smith's final Masters appearance. This champion Jack Nicklaus signed badge #11494 is almost as clean as they get and, as we mentioned, represents one of only two we have offered. The signed '63 series badge has bolstered the golf ticket category's place in sports memorabilia - the very first Masters win by its all-time champion.
