Jack Nicklaus 1962 US Open Champion at Oakmont Commemorative Wood Plaque
A commemorative item designed and offered only at Oakmont Country Club at this year's United States Open. Of extreme limited quantity, with only a purported scant dozen made. Similar in fashion and design to the highly popular Bobby Jones wood plaque offered at the Masters this year. This offering pays tribute to Jack Nicklaus' first major championship which occurred in the 1962 U.S. Open at the same famed Oakmont course. Many historians of golf remember this as a changing of the guard and beginning of the friendly rivalry between Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, as the Golden Bear would defeat Palmer in an 18-hole playoff contested in Arnie's Pennsylvania backyard. This wood plaque displays Oakmont CC's logo and Nicklaus' scores by round from his 1962 U.S. Open triumph. The item is in perfect, unused condition and ready for display. Given the opportunity, Jack's autograph would be the ultimate addition to this piece.
Item measures 20" x 4" x 3/8"
