Horton Smith's Personal 1953 P.G.A. of America's President Gavel

Keeping order in the PGA of America meetings, Horton Smith's Personal 1953 P.G.A. of America's President Gavel. Countless times this gavel was gripped and used by Horton Smith in 1953, the midway point for his term as PGA of America term from 1952 until 1954. The wooden gavel carries the engraving of its original owner "P.G.A. of America - Horton Smith President - 1953." Horton Smith will forever be known as the champion of the first Masters in 1934. He added a second win at Augusta in 1936 among his 32 career PGA triumphs. In 1930, he was the only player to defeat Bobby Jones in his Grand Slam season. Smith was also a top player in the early Ryder Cup competitions appearing in five consecutive events from 1929-37. The World Golf Hall of Famer was the first past Masters Champion to decease when he passed away in 1963 at 55. 10 1/4" long by 3 1/2" head height

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
