Harry Vardon Signed Mid-Swing Original Photo Dated 1933 - Framed

Well-chronicled is Harry Vardon's long-standing record six Open Championship victories. Then there was of course fabled 'Vardon Invasion' of the states, taking his talents across the pond and conquering the field at the 1900 US Open at the Chicago Golf Club. Apart from the photogravure, letterhead and the occasional cut signature, the biggest name in golf at the turn-of-the-century's scribe is just not available now over a century later. The same year of his final of seven published books, 'My Golfing Life,' Vardon signed this crystal clear mid-swing never-before-seen photo and inscribed the date of steel fountain penning - 'May 27th 1933.' It would be just four years prior to Vardon's passing at 66 years old. This rare Harry Vardon signed photo was then framed up tastefully and preserved behind glass, displayed for decades hung on the wall.

World Champion Golfer of the year in 1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, and 1914. Predating the 'Big Three' of Palmer, Nicklaus and Player, James Braid, John Henry Taylor, and himself formed the 'Great Triumvirate.' The three Englishmen combined to win the Open Championship 16 out of 21 times spanning from 1894-1914. Vardon, passed away in 1937, long before autographs were the popular pursuit that they are today. The Vardon Trophy carries on the golf luminary's legacy, given out each year to the lowest average on tour - Scottie Scheffler's 68.63 strokes in 2023 hawking the hardware. Compound this fact with his legendary status as both player and innovator in the game, and it is easy to see why any signed item of Vardon's that hits the marketplace is highly coveted.10" x 13 1/2." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity #YY97646 comes with this lot.
