Hale Irwin's Personal 1975 Western Open at Butler National Accutron Quartz Pocket Watch
Sourced directly from The Hale Irwin Collection presented in this offering is his prized 1975 Western Open Winner's pocket watch - Irwin's 5th of 20 PGA Tour victories. In celebration, with the hosting Western Golf Association shield carefully engraved is Irwin's prize from the tournament then widely considered the '5th major.' 'Hale S. Irwin' is also engraved on the casing, a Accutron Quartz pocket watch which which exudes class.
Hale Irwin had backed up his 1974 US Open with another significant triumph the following year - a single stroke victory over Bobby Cole at Butler National just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Irwin won his second tournament in the month of June that year, topping Tom Watson only 29 days prior at the Atlanta Classic.
'Hale S. Irwin - WESTERN OPEN - CHAMPION - 1975' is engraved verso the WGA logo on this roman numeral golden Swiss dial with a hour, minute and second hand. It is a reminder of excellence and Irwin's performance that week 50 years ago. Watch does not currently work. A signed letter of provenance from Hale Irwin comes with this lot.
