George Steinbrenner's Personal Used Irons, Woods & 'GEORGE' Putter in Full Size Palma Ceia Bag
Three years ago George Steinbrenner's 13,500 square ft. home in Tampa, Florida sold and made the local headlines. The expansive estate was located just off the premier golf club of the area, you guessed it Palm Ceia Golf & Country Club. This ties in nicely with Mr. George Steinbrenner's club set housed in his 'Palm Ceia' branded tan golf bag in this lot. While not a huge golfer, he was in very close proximity to a championship track and was known to get out there now and again. While not attempting to stand out or cause a commotion on the course, there was one thing that the sure-of-himself Steinbrenner wanted and that was his name 'George' on his putter. In capital letters 'George' is deeply engraved in customization of the boss in the sight line on top of his blade putter for reassurance when standing over the ball on the green. George Steinbrenner was principal owner and managing partner of the New York Yankees baseball team from 1973 until his passing in 2010. The baseball legend won seven World Series pennants and was the longest-serving owner of the pinstripes. Here are his clubs from The Babe Zaharias Foundation in Tampa, where he resided. This set includes irons 3-9, 1, 3, 4 and 5 woods, both pitching sand wedges and of course the all-important 'GEORGE' engraved putter. A signed letter of provenance from The Babe Zaharias Foundation comes with this lot. 34" - 42 1/2"
