Gene Sarazen's Personal Blue Di Fini Pants
The 5' 5" Squire was in many aspects were larger than life. Contained in this lot is a pair of personal worn blue colored knickers from the closet of Gene Sarazen by way of The Gene Sarazen Collection. His style comes from in many aspects his early professional golf days of the 1920's, winning the 1922 PGA Championship and US Open and following those up with five more majors and registering the first professional or "modern day" grand slam. Di Fini, along with the Japanese clothier that shared a name with Sarazen's tournament JUN were preferred by Sarazen for many years. There are welcomed signs of usage exhibited inside the knickers along with a sewn tag with washing instructions. These knickers have velcro adjustable straps at the bottom of each leg. Rarely has Gene Sarazen's personal clothing been made available to the public, so plan accordingly as this pair comes from the late 1935 Masters Champion's collection. A signed letter of provenance from Mary Ann Sarazen will come with this lot.
