Gene Sarazen Masters Tournament Used 1,3,4, & 5 Woods with Letter from Sarazen
This is an opportunity not to be missed - the chance to own golf clubs used in the Masters, by "The Squire" Gene Sarazen himself. Sarazen was a contemporary and rival to Bobby Jones, and was himself one of the world's top players in the 1920's and 1930's. He is one of five golfers to win all the current major championships in his career, the Career Grand Slam: U.S. Open in 1922 and 1932, PGA Championship in 1922, 1923 and 1933, British Open in 1932, and The Masters in 1935. Offered here are the 1, 3, 4, and 5 personal model S300 woods used in the Masters by Sarazen. These clubs bear "The Squire" markings on toe and similar gold color Gene Sarazen signature on the head of each of these Wilson crafted woods. They present in excellent condition bearing consistent tournament use markings, nicks and scrapes. Sarazen's handwritten letter on his own letterhead from 1993 accompanies the lot in which he states "I have a set of woods 1-3-4-5 that are at least thirty years old played with at the Masters.", showing rock solid provenance for this set. This is a must have for Sarazen collectors, or collectors of Major champions used clubs. To hold the four wood of this set in your hands brings the bearer all the way back in time, to the awe inspiring double eagle struck by Sarazen with a similar club at the the 1935 Masters. With driver in hand you share in the experience playing a round at the Masters which Sarazen did through the 1973 tournament, and of the ceremonial honorary tee shot he struck to open the Masters from 1981-99.
