Gary Player Signed 1959 Open Championship at Muirfield Friday Daily Program
At the time the youngest 'Champion Golfer of the Year' in the history of the oldest major, 23-year old Gary Player captured the claret jug in 1959 for his first of 9 majors in total. On this 65-year old program, once distributed at Muirfield during the Friday of competition for two shillings, The Black Knight has left his signature across the front cover. It would be Player's final round of 4-under 68 that secured the victory, starting the day buried on the leaderboard at t-10. This example comes in good condition with Player's signature in blazing black marker. The front cover presents well, with some adhesive on the spine. There is some slight paper loss on the back cover as depicted, noted for accuracy purposes. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
