Fred McLeod Signed Columbia Country Club Scorecard with 'US Open 1908' Notation
Fred McLeod was invited alongside Jock Hutchison as the inaugural Masters Honorary Starters in 1963. This was 55 years after McLeod won the USGA's United States Open in 1908. McLeod would continue with the honor until 1976, paving the way for Gene Sarazen and Byron Nelson to fulfill those duties five years later. Fred McLeod signed this Columbia Country Club scorecard on the frontside in blue ballpoint pen with the inscription 'US Open 1908.' The clean signature can be appreciated on the scorecard or mounted with a photograph of the golfer, winning bidder's choice. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
