Four (4) Various Vintage Golf Themed Sterling Silver Spoons
This collection consists of four sterling silver spoons featuring early 20th-century golfing and historical themes. One spoon is a Northbourne Golf Club commemorative dated 1935, featuring a dimpled golf ball finial. This piece bears the marks for Arthur Edwin Williams, Birmingham, 1935, including the maker mark A.E.W, an anchor, a walking lion, and the date letter L. A second spoon is inscribed Pretoria Golf Club, dated 1912-13 won by A. Macpherson, decorated with a green enamel wreath finial and an embossed bowl depicting a golfer and caddy. The reverse of the finial is inscribed October 1912. A third spoon is for The Liverpool B&I Golf Club, featuring a crossed-club finial and a gold-wash interior bowl. The fourth item is a figural commemorative spoon with a spiral-twist stem and a round bowl. The reverse of the bowl is inscribed Meltvs Est Dare Qvam Accipere 1685. The spoons show varying degrees of surface tarnish and age-appropriate wear consistent with collectible silver. There are visible signs of oxidation and light surface scratching throughout the collection. The enamel on the Pretoria spoon is spectacular. 130 grams in weight.
