Danny Edwards Signed & Inscribed Personal Race Worn Titleist Racing Helmet w/Photo Match
Danny Edwards' recalling of his ultimate crossover sports memory caused a wry smile to come across his face while consigning (and signing) THE helmet here. "I won the 1982 June Sprints in Wisconsin on a Sunday and left for the Texas Open Monday. Walking those 18 holes, I was as sore as ever." It was all worth it Danny. This is the Titleist 1 golf ball racing helmet that Edwards wore when he saw the checkered flag at Elkhardt Lake's Road America to win the 1982 June Sprints. The symbolic protection would later be the signature cover photo for Danny Edwards' autobiography 'Driven' (photomatched in the final listing image added for reference purposes). Appropriately a Masters Tournament golf scene was artificially imposed to the visor of the multi-sport athlete on the green by a graphic designer, capturing the golf emphasis. This full-size Titleist golf golf ball helmet that Edwards graciously signed also carries the significant inscription 'Winner, June Sprints.' A signed letter of provenance from Danny Edwards comes with this lot. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
