Curtis Strange 1989 MacGregor VIP Ltd Ed #21/50 Proof 1-9, P & SW Iron Set on Display - Mint Condition
"The 3.5 Million Dollar Set" was produced in 1989 to celebrate MacGregor staff member
Curtis Strange's large monetary achievement starting in May of 1983 thru April 1989. During
that time span he won 2 U.S. Opens and pocketed over $3.5 million dollars on the PGA
Tour. Thus the name: “3.5 Million Dollar Set”.
MacGregor Golf Company produced only 1,000 sets to replicate the MacGregor Pro82
forgings stamped VIP on the muscle back of the club that Curtis used exclusively during
that era. This Lot #53 is set #21 of 50 PROOF sets made solely for the MacGregor sales
force. Therefore, this Lot #53 is extremely rare. Only 49 other PROOF sets in the world.
The set make-up is a total of 11 irons; 1-pw, sw. This set of irons is in MINT condition. The
set still has its original face plastic wrap attached to the face for protection. '21/50P' is
carefully engraved in the head just below the VIP line designation and 'Curtis Strange'
stamped towards toe. The Driver and 3 wood have never been hit, MINT condition, with an
Oak stain finish. Clubs include the original oak display and engraved plate with much of this
