Circa 1930's Large Penfold Man Statue - Great Condition
A staple in the ever popular point of sale advertising figure statue category alongside its companion pieces the Dunlop Man, Silver King and Queen, and North British Scottish Terrier. Here we have the classic Penfold Man display statue with rosy cheeks in very good condition and pipe in mouth, a condition issue that routinely comes up with the other Penfold Men examples. These were placed in pro shops in the 1920-40s as advertising, with obvious visual intrigue. The slogan "He Played a Penfold" is inscribed on the base, as well as "Made in England" on the back. The substantial size and excellent condition of this piece is sure to catch the eye of many bidders. Founded in 1927 by Albert Ernest Penfold, Penfold Golf Ltd. was a British manufacturer of golf balls, gloves, and other equipment. Own a piece of vintage advertising golf history with this lot.
