Circa 1900 McEwan Splice Neck Wood Stamped McEwan with Lead Weight & Horn Insert

The McEwan family was one of the top clubmakers dating back to as early as the 1770s, a time when feathery balls were still being played. The McEwan's were made up of six club makers with this club representing the fashion of craftmanship only seen with a McEwan. An authentic McEwan crafted club such as this is expected to draw major interest from bidders looking to enhance their hickory club collection. The club has 'McEwan' stamped on the crown in bold fashion, displaying perfectly. The grip remains intact, and overall the club is in truly great condition considering its age, a long nose example that is an excellent addition to any growing golf collection. Lead weight, smooth face, horn insert, sheepskin grip, and is in fine condition with little wear. It is 36" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel. The head measures 4" long, 1" thick and 1 3/4" wide. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
