Chi Chi Rodriguez's FBI Association Memorial College Fund Plaque September 12th, 2016
From the Federal Bureau of Investigation comes this award cherry wood plaque of appreciation presented 8 years ago to World Golf Hall of Fame golfer and philanthropist Chi Chi Rodriguez. It reads: "Juan Chi Chi Rodriguez - Has generously given unwavering support to charity fund raising golf tournament for twenty-three years to benefit the FBI Agents Association Memorial College Fund. For this, the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, salutes you. - September 12, 2016." A signed Letter of Provenance from John Foley will accompany this lot.

Humble beginnings paved the way for 37 professional wins including two Senior Major Championships as well as a 1973 Ryder Cup appearance for the United States team. Avid baseball fan Juan "Chi Chi" Rodriguez got his nickname from Puerto Rican baseball player Chi Chi Flores. Our consignor John Foley had a working relationship with the late Chi Chi and helped the golfer with his estate - much of which traveled many miles to arrive in the continental states. John initially mentioned that when he went out to lunch with Chi Chi a couple years ago now, Rodriguez was full of stories and Chi Chi's face lit up when asked to sign a couple of items for John's young daughter. After all, children have always been the main focus of his extensive philanthropic efforts.
