Employing the cherished early Professional Golfer's Association Tour logo 14k gold winner's medal design version with the raised text "Tournament Players Division" encircling the PGA of America logo depiction in shallow relief is Irwin's 1st place award from the only PGA tournament he had won at that time and the only alongside the US Open that he would capture on three occasions. Boasting it's 14k gold makeup and of great significance to World Golf Hall of Famer Hale Irwin's career is this stunning medal.
Moving to September on the PGA Tour schedule, 1973 would be the first edition broadcasted on television. NBC brought the home viewers Hale Irwin's second win in three years at the tournament now branded RBC Heritage, on Hilton Head's Harbour Town Golf Links. It would be much easier than the first, Irwin muscling his way around the course for a 12-below par 5 stroke victory over Jerry Heard and Grier Jones.
