Champion Hal Sutton's 1995 The BC Open Winner's Trophy - 8th PGA Tour Victory!
As Golf Digest describes the PGA's BC Open winner's trophy "One of Hart's B.C. cavemen having taken so big a divot that the ball and tee are attached to divot at the end of the golf club." The trophy with a comic strip character statue was presented to Hal Sutton in 1995 and hoisted (as shown in the final photo) when he 8th PGA Tour victory. It would come down to the wire, with Sutton's scorching hot course record Sunday 61 bringing the four rounds to a cumulative 269, enough for a one stroke victory in the Empire State over Jim McGovern and the field in 1995.
'It's been a long time coming. I can't believe it's here,' Sutton said. 'I'm humbled by it. I've had to persevere. This win ranks higher than some of the big ones in the past because I didn't have those bad memories to deal with in 1982 and 1983.'
It was Hal Sutton's first PGA win since nine years prior, but Hal was far from done with 6 more victories to follow. 10 1/2" x 12" x 12." A signed letter of provenance from Hal Sutton comes with this lot.
