Known to eclipse the $10,000 mark as it reigns supreme among golf's most hardened bibliophiles for 20th century book publications is this limited edition (to just 300) Bobby Jones twice signed 1927 'Down the Fairway' with co-author, co-signer and friend OB Keeler. Just below the limited edition detailing on that page are two high-grade, flawless signatures of co-authors Bobby Jones (desired RTJ slant style) and OB Keeler from 99 years ago. Then below Jones' smiling full-page photo by Edwin Levich of NY is a second time-period signature from the King of golf. Still one of the most collectible in golf, Bobby Jones was the winner of an astonishing 13 majors in eight years (1923-1930). This instructional book was authored in the midst of that fame featuring insight into the young Jones' life and golf theories. The offered book remains intact and in good to very good condition, with preservation at the forefront since print (slight edge wear; fine internally). Bobby Jones' play during this the wonder years of sport was the rage and the publicity generated by friend, confidant and editor O.B. Keeler enabled Jones' to become the most influential American golfer in the history of the sport.
'Down The Fairway' remains one of the most sought after and famous titles in the sport and this edition is at the top of collector's want lists. A top example, Bobby Jones' desired, vintage full-name signature with welcomed slant, flow and formation is penned between the hard covers twice, along with Keeler's also spectacular autograph in its own right. This edition is not numbered, making it perhaps a one-of-a-kind. A wonderful opportunity presents itself here to obtain the dual Jones and united signatures from this dynamic duo of the golf links during the roaring twenties, which many considered the apex of the game. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) will come with this lot.
