This is a close 8" x 10" original Associated Press photo of the celebrated Bobby Jones riding alongside his wife in the New York City ticker tape parade in 1930 when he returned home "with the British Amateur and Open golfing crowns resting on his brow." While we were already thinking it before this photo was turned over to read the verso caption, it appropriately concludes with 'An unusually good close-up.' It is assumed that the photographer, with his camera in-hand, waited for the Jones' car to drive by that location for this precise moment - it paid off and they got the shot. Multiple handwritten notations and the appropriate Associated Press stamping accompany the affixed corresponding caption on this crystal clear photo's verso. Not taking away from the image itself, and stated for accuracy purposes only, the top right corner point is removed and there are slight surface scratches as depicted in the accompanying lot photos.
