Bobby Jones & Grantland Rice Signed 1925 US Amateur Display w/ American Golfer Letter - Framed
To archivist's high standards comes this Bobby Jones and renowned sports columnist and Jones' friend Grantland Rice signed 1925 US Amateur at Oakmont Country Club presentation. The display features an original typed letter on 'The American Golfer letterhead', dated August 26, 1925, signed at the conclusion by Grantland Rice in ink. The letter is addressed to Mr. Charles A. Hughes at the Detroit Athletic Club and mentions baseball legend Ty Cobb and Rice's plans for covering the championship at Oakmont. Below the letter is a cut signature piece signed Bob Jones in black ink. The collage includes two black and white photographs: a vertical action shot of Bobby Jones in a mid-swing follow-through and a horizontal group photo depicting Johnny Farrell, Grantland Rice, Bobby Jones, and Ty Cobb at Augusta National. A black descriptive plaque with gold lettering provides historical context on the 1925 U.S. Amateur, specifically detailing the final match between Jones and fellow East Lake member Watts Gunn. The items are presented with double matting in offsetting dark wood frame featuring a decorative rope-patterned inner border. A small holographic authentication sticker is located on the center bottom of the reverse backing.
