Bobby Jones, O.B. Keeler, & Others Signed 1937 Original Wire Photo PSA/DNA #W06406
'Down The Fairway,' 'The Boys Life of Bobby Jones' and 'The Bobby Jones Story' is only a sampling of the work that leading golf writer O.B. Keeler published starring his good friend and larger-than-life golfer Bobby Jones. The polarizing subject Bobby Jones signed this original 1937 wire photo with his 'RTJ' slant formation, in which he is pictured standing with co-signers O.B. Keeler and three other notable figures of their day including the Coca Cola CEO Jack Warner. Jones and Keeler met at the 1916 US Amateur tournament, Bobby Jones' first major at the age of 14. More than working associates, they were close friends. Bobby Jones is of course known for creating the Augusta National Golf Course and the Masters Golf Tournament. A little known fact is that he designed the first ever set of "matched clubs". He won 7 Majors, including 1923-1926-1929 and 1930; the British Open in 1926-1927 and 1930. He also won 6 amateur tournaments and played on 5 US Walker Cup Teams, being Captain in 1928 and 1930. He is in the World Golf Hall of Fame. The marking 'Jones 37' is written in the bottom right corner of this original photo. PSA/DNA has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity #W06406 comes with this lot.
