Bobby Jones, Horton Smith & Sargent Signed 1953 'The Bobby Jones Story' by O. B. Keeler

How often do you find dual signed items by The Masters' co-founder Bobby Jones and the tournament's first and third champion Horton Smith?

This volume is a second printing, stated as November 1953 on the copyright page, following the initial October 1953 printing. The book is an octavo bound in publisher original blue cloth with a gold-stamped illustration of a golf grip on the front board and gold-stamped lettering on the spine. The half-title page features three distinct handwritten inscriptions in blue ink addressed to Bill. This meaningful inscriptions were to “Bill” is William W. Wotherspoon, the first Golf Professional at Southern Hills Golf Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He served as their Professional for 30+ years until his retirement upon which he was honored as Pro Emeritus by the Club. The consignor, Barney Neal, was the grand nephew of Wotherspoon. The first inscription reads: My best regards, Bill, from Bob Jones. The second inscription reads: Good luck to Bill my friend for a Quarter of Century - Horton Smith PGA Pres 1954. The third inscription reads: For a wonderful friend and a great professional. Harold Sargent. Robert Tyre Jones Jr. (Bobby Jones) was the founder of the Masters Tournament and a Grand Slam winner. Horton Smith was the winner of the inaugural Masters Tournament and served as PGA President from 1952 to 1954. Harold Sargent was a notable golf professional who served as PGA President from 1958 to 1960. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed each of these three autographs and there ALOA comes with this lot.
