Bobby Jones Signed Scorecard - Highlands Golf Course FULL JSA #Z61966
This is one of only a handful of known Bobby Jones signed scorecards. From the Highlands Country Club website: 'In 1928, when Robert Tyre "Bob" Jones, Jr. struck the very first ball christening the Highlands Country Club golf course, the founders had a feeling history was being made. Those founders, including the Colonel Robert P. Jones (Bob’s father), had engaged well-known Scottish architect Donald Ross to carve a golf course out of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Using the natural terrain, Ross designed the course with a high demand for accuracy.' Bobby Jones was also one of the founders along with his father.
Less than two months before his last round of golf played, Jones was signed this Highlands Golf Course scorecard with a nicely struck Robert T. Jones Jr. vintage signature. One of very few Bobby Jones signed scorecards, this one is still attached to the scrapbook where it has remained since that day. Highlands Country Club opened in 1928, and Jones was the first player to strike a ball there. Commemorating this moment is a plaque as seen in the photos. Bobby became the world’s most famous amateur golfer and his career culminated with the Grand Slam of Golf in 1930. A full letter of authentication from James Spence Authentication will accompany this seldom seen signed Highlands Course scorecard. Not an official tournament scorecard, but a scorecard nonetheless
