Bobby Jones Signed Ltd Ed 1954 USGA Thomas E. Stephens Print #510 - Framed
Here is a Bobby Jones Signed Thomas E. Stephens USGA Print from the famous original painting that is hanging in the United States Professional Golf Association Museum in New Jersey. Stephen's piece was later famously depicted by President Dwight D Eisenhower and presented to Jones. Post-swing, with a flawless depiction of his center-parted hair and looking straight at the artist, Stephen's artistic take on the legendary Bobby Jones. Thomas E. Stephens (1884-1966) was a portrait painter commissioned to paint primarily famous politicians and Army generals, with his first being Abraham Lincoln shortly after arrival in the United States in 1929. Stephens' artwork has been on the front of TIME magazine and hung in The Smithsonian. Bobby Jones, of course, was the most accomplished amateur golfer ever to play and of course the founder of Augusta National in 1933. Bobby Jones impact on the game both as a player, founder of the Augusta National and the game's ambassador lead many to call him golf's Babe Ruth. This features a limited edition print that was done by the USGA in 1954 paired with a 'Robert T. Jones Jr.' blue ballpoint signature penned by Bobby Jones himself. Frame measures 34" x 30 1/4". Excellent Condition. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authentication comes with this lot.
