Bobby Jones Signed 1952 Masters Tournament Spectator Guide
Achieving mythical status in the world of sport in 1930, Bobby Jones retired from competitive golf. His impact would perhaps reach even further when he opened his idealistic private club with a pristine golf course on the Fruitland Nursery land a 2 hour drive from his law practice and home in Atlanta. The Masters Tournament would be played originally under the Augusta National Invitation Tournament on Bobby's course, making another vision a reality. Bobby Jones has added his pleasing 9/10 ballpoint pen signature to the top of this 1952 Masters Tournament Spectator Guide cover. It would mark Sam Snead's second victory and the inaugural Masters Champions dinner, held by 1951 champion Ben Hogan. Collectors pine for items of Masters Tournament content that include Bobby Jones' signature on them, and routinely fail to satisfy the need. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
Update to description: Please note that on the right front cover there was once some writing which has since been removed. We are unable to decipher exactly what was stated. A tight binding and no marks or condition detractors inside, this very good condition guide has an ever-so-slight 1/4 inch mark on the upper left corner of the back cover noted for accuracy purposes only.
