Bobby Jones Signed 1932 U.S. Amateur Baltimore Country Club Series Ticket PSA/DNA #AH04004
The greatest name in golf and arguably the games’ greatest Amateur was Bobby Jones. Here, the great one hand signed this 1932 U.S. Amateur ticket in pencil with a full Robert T. Jones Jr. signature. This ticket represents a 1932 signature from golf's biggest star only two (2) years after retiring from competitive golf and one (1) year prior to the opening Augusta National Golf Club.
A limited number of Bobby Jones signed tickets are known to exist, and only a few of those actually make it to auction. This badge comes with the original green string still attached. Early U.S.G.A. Amateur badges are difficult to find and a 1932 paper ticket is right up there in scarcity. The match was played over the Five Farms course, ten miles from Baltimore. Ross Somerville became the first Canadian to win the U.S.G.A. Amateur. He defeated Johnny Goodman 2 & 1, who had reached the Championship with a win over Francis Ouimet in the semi-finals. The scallop edged ticket measures 3 3/4" diameter. PSA/DNA has reviewed the signatures of Jones and their findings lead to full letter of authenticity #AH04004 that comes with this lot.
