Bobby Clampett's 1980 Spalding Pro-Am Winner's Trophy
Debuting in 1972, The Spalding Pro-Am was contested by professionals from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour and still is. This towering, dual-handled 8" x 8" x 14 1/2" 1980 winner's trophy is one of three professional wins that the decorated amateur Bobby Clampett had. Clampett was an amateur at the time, victorious by a pair of strokes over the field. Revenge was best served cold, with Clampett the runner-up with George Bayer in 1979. Major winners that have also championed this tournament including Al Geiberger (1979), John Mahaffey (1981), Johnny Miller (1983), Mark Calcavecchia (1989), Juli Inkster (1990), John Daly (1995) and more. '1980 Spalding Pro-Am Winner Bobby Clampett' is engraved on the nameplate. A signed letter from Mr. Clampett will accompany this lot.
Simplifying the golf swing while instructing a diverse group of golfers through both his authored 'Impact Zone' books and lessons comes second nature to Bobby Clampett, now teaching and residing in Naples, Florida - as he mastered the swing as a player himself. The 1979 Masters and 1978 US Open Low Amateur honoree, the BYU alumni where he was a two-time Fred Haskins Award, is a Hall of Famer there as well as in the California and Utah Golf Hall of Fames. CBS Broadcaster for The Masters and Turner Sports, The Bobby Clampett Collection has been curated over decades of participating in the highest form of competition and is proudly offered here.
