Big 3, Seve & Twenty-Eight (28) OPEN Champs Signed 1999 OPEN at Carnoustie Flag
One of the most complete Open Champions signed flags we have seen carries the inked names of 31 different gentleman that were once crowned 'Champion Golfer of the Year' performed with conscious positioning. It presents here as a showcase work of art, the end result of seeking out and obtaining the right signatures over years of both PGA and Champions Tour tournaments. It paid off.
On this heavy yellow and red 1999 Open at Carnoustie flag is penmanship of the following: Seve Ballesteros (Full name), Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, David Duval, Bill Rogers, Mark Calcavecchia, Stewart Cink, Todd Hamilton, Ernie Els, Roberto De Vicenzo, Greg Norman, Justin Leonard, Bob Charles, Zach Johnson, Darren Clarke, John Daly, Tom Lehman, Nick Price, Padraig Harrington, Louis Oosthuizen, Mark O' Meara, Nick Faldo, Paul Lawrie (1999 winner), Ian Baker-Finch, Tony Jacklin, Lee Trevino, Ben Curtis, and Sandy Lyle. Ray Floyd has also signed this flag. While the signatures are in very good, bold condition, there is slight blemishing on the royal blue Open logo at the top at the compact fold line and brown adhesive with signers penned on. While many of the challenging past champions that are no longer signing have been added to this flag, an individual with current player access could easily eclipse 30 names with the addition of recent champions. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
