Big 3' Palmer, Nicklaus & Player Signed 1962 'Three for the Money' Magazine Page
Three flawless black sharpie signatures are found with ideal positioning by the side-by-side 1962 Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player, fittingly in a similar way to how the gentlemen were themselves for the next 50 years. 1962, that of this magazine page's print, was a pivotal year as the Palmer, Nicklaus, and Player were established as golf's "Big Three," rookie Jack Nicklaus taking the US Open, Player the PGA Championship and Palmer The Masters and Open Championship. Their first tournament together would be at Jack's pro debut at the 1961 Orange Bowl Classic Exhibition match with Sam Snead on December 30th of the previous year.
The 'Big Three' is correctly credited with popularizing and commercializing the sport during the television age of golf. The three have a remarkable combined 13 Masters victories and 34 major championships, with Jack's 18 still sitting securely atop the golf world. Player's nine Majors are tied for fourth all-time alongside Palmer's seven major championships. The Big Three were honorary starters at the Masters for many years, kicking off the tournament with the ceremonial first shots on the first hole.
