Ben Hogan Signed Ltd Ed '1953 Hogan Year - Masters, British and US Open' #74/2500 Golf Bag

Showcased here for bidders is a high grade, seldom seen jet black marker Ben Hogan signed example of the spectacular Hogan Company Commemorative Limited Edition #74/2500 golf bag titled '1953: The Hogan Year' exhibiting four detailed illustrations from revered artists Harold Bluestein and Anthony Ravieli. This Hawk-penned full size golf bag is masterfully embroidered with stitched scenes from the three Majors he won in 1953 and the location where he did so - Augusta National, Oakmont CC and Carnoustie! The burgundy, black, white and gold-tone accent design and craftsmanship are unparalleled and this is sure to be the shining star in any Hogan and bag collection. Hogan stands out from the crowd literally, his outfit filled in with a brown hue before outlined spectators in the background. Atop the golf bag category it currently sits, as it previously did at the Doug Sanders Museum - with their signature green and white inventory sticker still affixed to its base.

Ben Hogan's 1953 season was incredible to say the least. He won 5 of the 6 tournaments he entered, 3 of those 5 being Majors. In April 1953, Hogan won his second Masters while breaking the scoring record and shooting a 274. In June 1953, Hogan defeated Sam Snead by 6 strokes to win his 4th US Open. In July 1953, Ben was successful in winning the British Open in his only attempt. This remains today the only time these three Majors have been won in the same calendar year. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
