Ben Hogan Signed 1982 Sohio Petroleum Legal Document and 1950 U.S. Open at Merion 16x20 Photograph
This lot includes two items documenting the life and career of legendary golfer Ben Hogan. The first item is a signed three-page legal document set on Sohio Petroleum Company letterhead. This set consists of a cover letter dated May 10, 1982, and a two-page Amendment of Salt Water Disposal Agreement. The agreement details Hogan's ownership and operation of an oil and gas lease known as the Stevens Lease in Pratt County, Kansas. The document bears the signature of Ben Hogan on the signature line of the final page, dated May 13, 1982. The cover letter also features a handwritten notation stating original mailed back 5/13-82. The second item is a black and white commemorative 16x20 photograph of Hogan's iconic 1-iron approach shot to the 18th green during the final round of the 1950 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club. The photograph features a handwritten caption in the lower right corner identifying the player and event. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature, and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
