Ben Hogan 4 Poses Sketch Which Appeared In '5 Lessons' Original Artwork by Anthony Ravielli

'Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf' book reigns supreme in the expansive golf literature category, with the 1957 staple in which Ben Hogan details his swing theories print run nearing 1,000,000 copies. Notably paired with text were precise, fairly complex diagrams aiding the visual learners for instant game improvement. Wisely chosen for this important role was highly decorated Sports Illustrated illustrator Anthony Raviellii, the 5 Lessons also published in five SI issues. Considered pencil on paper authority of the human athlete form, Ravielli exhibits that here. 28" x 22"

Presented are Anthony Ravielli's four drawings of the swing theory professor Ben Hogan in his patented flat cap across the top of this oversize drafting paper pre-print composition and two the average golfer pupil below in which much of the context was geared towards. Six diagrams in all, these were used in three of the five lessons. The seated Hogan and two "average Joe" sketches were in Lesson 2: Stance & Posture on p. 54. Each of the two Hogan drawings on the left side of this composition can be found on p. 75, as part of Lesson 3: The First Part of The Swing. Finally the double outline illustration of Bantam Ben with profile facial facial features located on p. 118 in Lesson 5: Summary & Review. Thousands learned the game of golf by studying this reader from cover to cover. The drawings are secured to board, with the ability of removal without jeopardizing the present condition. Offered in this lot is the prized and significant artwork depicting The Hawk in different swing positions, with the mastermind illustrator Anthony Ravielli's own handwritten notations for your bidding pleasure.
