"This medallion is he exact size of golf cup. Augusta Country Club requests that no other golf medallion ever be made this size in honor of Bobby Jones, greatest amateur of all time. 50th Anniversary Southeastern Open Commemorative Medallion (1930–1980), issued by the Medallic Art Company in 1980. This is a Tournament Player edition, uniquely engraved on the reverse for W.P. Stevens, Jr. The recipient, William P. ""Bill"" Stevens Jr., along with his father, was the founder of Club Car, LLC. The Stevens family is foundational to the history of golf in Augusta, having pioneered the first golf carts with steering wheels and famously driving a prototype from Augusta to Florida in 1962 to launch the brand. Given Mr. Stevens’s status as a prominent Augusta figure and a contemporary of the era's golf legends, this medallion represents a deep personal connection between the Stevens legacy and the 50th-anniversary celebration of Bobby Jones’s Grand Slam.
